About the Book
This is the amazing and compelling story of how Baja California, through actual, yet unrelated events at first, contributes to its eventual secession from Mexico, thus becoming a new nation and eventually "The 51st State" of the United States. A storyline so believable, you'd think you've read it from today's headlines. Many of the incidents in this book are real, albeit tweaked a bit to carry the story line. Moreover, the author's experiences in Baja California are unique as he has lived through many of the events depicted that make up this narrative. The majority of the characters are also real, even though most of the names have been changed, some are still alive. Occurrences that formulate the book are also authentic but timelines were changed for this story; from the massive floods that occurred in the seventies in California, Nevada, Arizona, and in Baja, to recent ecological challenges and today's immigration problems, massive cartel issues, secession meetings, off-road events, and the possibilities of the most recent terrorists' attempts. The compendium of all these are brought to life in this book. Lastly, part of the book also deals with the author's own ideas as to how Baja California should be governed, and how the political climate in the United States should change; suggesting certain solutions that will take into consideration, term limits, environmental dilemmas, immigration solutions, economic growth and even the unusual occurrences that elected an unlikely individual to become the President United States. In short, ABAJA U.S.A. is as timely as today's headlines and provides a template for a greater America.
About the Author: Here is a person who has lived life to its fullest and is not ashamed that he would like to continue living on the fast-track for a long time; at least until he finishes some ten to twenty books he has in him. Elias Vidal "Lucho" was born in Callao, Peru, South America, in 1942 as Luis Elias Vidal Peralta. He came to the United States with his father and mother and sister early in life. They had to leave Perú during one of its military coups, fled to Argentina, where they lived for five years, waiting for their United States visa. Their visa came just in time, as the tyrannical reign of Juan and Evita Perón had exploded and once again they had to flee. When the family arrived in San Francisco in 1943, Elias likes to tell, "I knew English, 'yes' and 'no!'" Within six months, after watching countless hours of television, he was able to understand most everyone in school and for the most part they were able to understand him. Early on, he knew he loved the entertainment business, sports and the music business, but writing was the farthest option in his mind. "It's amazing how life is. "When you never expect it something happens and boom, there you are; a writer!" Lucho is quoted. Between his grammar school days and the day he decided to start writing his life-long experiences, there's a massive amount of exciting, exhilarating, sometimes thrilling chapters of his life. His days have been filled with one experience after another. From banking in the sixties, to recreational entrepreneur, high-power executive in the film and television business (acting with a range of notables such as Anthony Quinn to Elvis Presley), to a wild period of his life as a musician, playing in film and television and in thousands of nightclubs and joints--about fifteen years-worth, to his later life as a magazine publisher, publishing On-Dirt Motorsports Magazine, Skat'n News, R/C News, and as a racer, promoter and all-around lover of living to the fullest with ultimate experiences. He credits his family and especially his wife of fifty-years, Lois, for "Allowing me to do what I damn well please!" Elias Vidal's books cover a variety of ranges and attitudes, from comedy and humor, to political savvy and mystery. Elias can write on just about anything, as he was once tested by writing seven articles in six hours, on a variety of subjects he had never experienced. It was a dare and he won.
