He is broken emotionally after losing his biological family, and combined with the theft, he's on the verge of a nervous breakdown and suicide.

He introduces her to Churrasco in the Amazon Rainforest, Mayan food in Chichen Itza, they swim nude in a Cenote. They learn of the medicinal qualities of plants native to the Amazon Rainforest.
