My name is Dan Harrison King, and I am a multimedia artist. Musician, Film Maker, Writer, and Artist. I was born in 1991.
In the early 2000s, I went to the National Space Centre, in my home city of Leicester, and ultimately to a show at the planetarium. There, I decided what I wanted to do with my life. The show talked about Mars, the possibility of life on it... Life out in the universe... And our possible future colonisation of worlds. I wasn't inspired to delve into a space/science-orientated career (although I have a major interest in such things), but rather, I was inspired to create; I was inspired to create worlds.
When going home, I immediately decided (backed by my OCD brain) that I was going to write, film, and make a movie about an alien invasion of Earth; I was like thirteen at the time... But this was the start of my journey. The story/script was never finished, it wasn't very good, and the knowledge on how to even start the process of making a film, was absent, and unfeasible. But, I did know what I wanted to do with my life.
In college, I started script and story writing for myself around 2005-2006, and developed my skills throughout the years. The scriptwriting was mainly tied to my ambitions to be a filmmaker. At college, I would work on my own films; my friends would be the actors, and also I studied 'film' and 'media studies'. Also, my own personal studies developed my knowledge and skills.
Around 2010 and onwards, I mainly focused on the development of my music skills. I am self-taught (with only ever taking one piano lesson when I was already semi-skilled in it). I am apt in playing Guitar, Bass, and Piano/Keys. With the development of my songwriting skills, came also, the development of my song/music composing skills.
I also have other, less prioritised creative efforts. I have a GCSE in textiles and have made my own clothes. I also have made my own scale models: From scratch, I started work on a 1/300 scale of the RMS Titanic's A-Deck interior (myself, and my family, are big nerds on the ship, as well as others like the RMS Queen Mary (which my American grandpa, Paul Sydney King, came to the UK on in the 1930s)). I'm also avid on virtual worlds, virtual model making, as well as Augmented Reality and VR games.
Sporadically through the years, I have also created artworks. Something inside that had to come out, which couldn't fit into any other medium? An artwork was born.
