La causa es por inhalación del hongo por polvo contaminado y aparece en los pulmones con síntomas de fiebre, tos, dolor de cabeza, malestar general (fácilmente confundible con coronavirus. La psitacosis (también conocida como ornitosis) es una enfermedad causada por la bacteria Chlamydia psittaci, transmitida por las aves a los seres humanos. Y se contrae la enfermedad al inhalar polvo que contiene plumas, secreciones y excrementos de aves infectadas. Las personas mayores generalmente experimentan enfermedades más graves. Las aves y sus excrementos pueden transmitir más de 60 enfermedades. La encefalitis de San Luis, es una inflamación del sistema nervioso, generalmente causa somnolencia, dolor de cabeza y fiebre. Incluso puede resultar en parálisis, coma o muerte. La encefalitis de St. Louis ocurre en todos los grupos de edad, pero es especialmente fatal para las personas mayores de 60 años. La enfermedad se transmite por mosquitos que se han alimentado de gorriones, palomas y pinzones domésticos infectados que portan el virus del grupo B responsable de la encefalitis de St. Louis.
