Diese Frage wird aktuell heftig diskutiert. Einer der Gründe dafür ist, dass der Niedriglohnsektor in Deutschland seit Jahren wächst. Als Niedriglohnempfänger gilt, wer einen Verdienst von weniger als zwei Drittel des Medianlohns, das heißt des mittleren Verdienstes, in Deutschland erhält. Laut aktuellen Forschungsergebnissen aus dem "Institut für Arbeit und Qualifikation" liegt die bundeseinheitliche Niedriglohnschwelle bei 9,13 pro Stunde und der Niedriglohnanteil für Deutschland insgesamt bei 22,6 Prozent. Das bedeutet, dass 6,59 Millionen Menschen für Niedriglöhne arbeiten. Es wird damit ein Anstieg des Niedriglohnanteils gegenüber dem Jahr 1995 um 43 Prozent verzeichnet. Dabei verteilt sich ein zehnprozentiger Anstieg der Niedriglohnbeschäftigung auf den Zeitraum zwischen den Jahren 2004 und 2006. "Nicht nur, dass die Verdienste der Geringverdiener hinter der allgemeinen Lohnentwicklung zurückbleiben: Die durchschnittlichen Stundenlöhne der Niedriglöhner sind während der letzten beiden Jahre des Untersuchungszeitraums sogar absolut gesunken - in Westdeutschland von 7,25 Euro auf 6,89 Euro und im Osten von 5,48 Euro auf 4,86 Euro." Dies ist ein deutliches Zeichen dafür, dass sich das Lohnspektrum nach unten weiter ausdehnt und immer mehr Menschen unter dem Hartz IV Satz verdienen. Was kann Deutschland dagegen tun? Ist die Einführung von Mindestlöhnen sinnvoll? In der folgenden Hausarbeit wird in Kapitel 2 zuerst der Begriff des Mindestlohnes geklärt sowie die Möglichkeiten der Ausgestaltung von Mindestlöhnen dargestellt. Kapitel 3 umfasst die Analyse der Klassischen Theorie. Dabei werden deren mögliche Auswirkungen von Mindestlöhnen beschrieben und diese anhand von zwei Graphiken zum Arbeitsmarkt verdeutlicht.
