Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2009 im Fachbereich Kunst - Malerei, Note: 1,3, Universität Hildesheim (Stiftung), Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Die vorliegende Hausarbeit wurde im Rahmen des Hauptseminars Impressionismus unter der Leitung von Dr. phil. habil. Beatrix Nobis erarbeitet. Ich habe mich entschieden, meine Hausarbeit über das Frauenbild bei Degas zu schreiben, weil es mir gefällt, dass er nie versuchte, die Porträtierte in ihren Goldstunden zu zeigen, sondern vielmehr den gewissen Moment der vermeintlichen Unbeobachtetheit, den Moment vor dem eigentlichen Ereignis zu zeigen. Er versucht nicht, ein Individuum in der Perfektion seiner selbst zu zeigen, er zeigt sie vielmehr die ehrliche, ungeschliffene Wahrheit, die vielerlei Ebenen besitzt. Der Maler wollte seine individuelle Sicht der Wirklichkeit zum Ausdruck bringen. Es war die Zeit, als der Impressionismus aufkam, als Degas seine künstlerische Tätigkeit begann. Er ließ sich von dieser Stilrichtung zwar beeinflussen, jedoch entwickelte er eine eigene Bildkomposition, die er insbesondere durch Farb- und Lichtwirkungen auslegte. Er stellte sich gegen alte Kompositionsschemata und wollte sich keinen gewohnten Konventionen beugen. Sein Ziel war es, dass Flüchtigkeit und Konstruktion, Schein und Wahrheit, Fiktion und Desillusion ununterscheidbar werden1 . Degas war ein Großstadtmensch. Es war sein Bedürfnis, von Menschen, vom urbanen Leben umgeben zu sein, stets musste er, der Psychologe, Menschen beobachten können.2 Insbesondere Frauen stellte er mit Vorliebe dar, sie waren für ihn ein ideales Studienobjekt, obgleich er selbst nie verheiratet war. Warum ich selbst nie geheiratet habe? (...) Da ist die Liebe und da die Malerei. Und wir haben doch nur ein Herz.3 Das leidenschaftliche Verhältnis zu Frauen beschränkt sich auf seine künstlerische Auseinandersetzung mit ihnen. Auf die bei den Impressionisten gebräuchlichen Naturdarstellungen verzichtete er fast ausschließlich. Zwar bediente er sich der Pleinair-Malerei,
