Sie soll explizit kleinen und mittelständischen Unternehmen Chancen und Risiken aufzeigen, die eine Differenzierungsstrategie in Form des Aufbaus einer Arbeitgebermarke birgt. Des Weiteren soll durch eine gezielte Abwägung gezeigt werden, wie sich ein Employer Brand positiv auf die Rekrutierungsquote auswirken kann. Zunächst werden die Arbeitsmarkteinflüsse beleuchtet und kleine und mittlere Unternehmen wissenschaftlich eingruppiert. Anschließend erfolgt die Definition der Employer Brand und die Darstellung, wie diese in die Unternehmensstrategie implementiert werden kann. Ziel ist dabei deutlich zu machen, wie das Employer Branding positiv auf den Rekrutierungsprozess einwirkt. Im weiteren Verlauf erfolgt die Analyse der Ergebnisse einer explorativen Studie an 136 Arbeitnehmern der Altersklassen 17 - 53 Jahre hinsichtlich ihrer persönlichen Anforderungen an einen Arbeitgeber und die Suche nach der optimalen Arbeitsstelle. Die Themenbereiche umfassen das Angebot an Zusatzleistungen eines Arbeitgebers, das Aufgabengebiet, die Eigenschaften des Unternehmens, die Mitarbeiterstruktur sowie die Einschätzung verschiedener Jobportale und Bewerbungsinstrumente. Zudem konnten die Teilnehmer angeben, was für sie einen attraktiven Arbeitgeber ausmacht und wie er auf sich aufmerksam machen sollte.
