It is clear that the leadership question has become an enduring feature of our democratic experiences and historical struggle for a unified and prosperous nation in which the representation of every tongue, belief, and interest is settled for the common good and sovereignty of the state. The search for the common purpose has remained largely illusory and unattainable due to the lack of ideal political ideologies, goodwill, concrete national-working plan, and character that promotes true democracy, Nigerianness, strong bureaucratic independence, and competent leadership. Regrettably, not much has changed despite the immense natural and human resources our dear country is blessed with.

Tellingly, the obvious leadership incompetence and lack of courage by the Muhammadu Buhari administration to confront the many challenges bedeviling our nation are the catalyst for the wide-ranging underdevelopment and illegitimacies in our political space. Take the fact that over 80 million Nigerians are still living on less than $2 per day, for instance. Our country staggers at the bottom of every human development index, abject poverty and peak ruins.

Our nation is in dire need of an inspiring leader who will lead from the front in courage, purpose, and love; a unifier who will forge the Nigerian mind; a competent and contemporary leader that is wholly prepared and equipped with a working plan to provide long-lasting solutions to the many challenges; and a visioner who will unleash the Nigerian exceptionalism. We saw these qualities in Atiku Abubakar, who demonstrated extraordinary capacity as Vice President of our dear country and even after. The Waziri Adamawa has shown dexterity as a politician, pragmatic leadership as a resourceful entrepreneur, courage to go against the tides, and statesmanship in many different ways, as everything he touches turns to gold.

Our country needs the services of Atiku Abubakar for his unblemished track record in public service, sterling leadership qualities, profound character strength, and progressive vision to return our country to prosperity, peace and resolve to unite it again. And to reenact and return the legitimacy of government to the people and unfurl the national renewal we have all craved, which unfortunately, has remained a pipe dream. An immediate pivot to the Atiku Abubakar leadership doctrine and political-will is of critical national importance in order for us to have a fighting chance to overcome most of our agonizing challenges and to redirect and channel our energies toward the realization of a new restructured Nigeria that will work for all Nigerians today and for those to come.

As a nation in search of its soul, we cannot afford to throw away Atiku Abubakar's vast executive experience, strong political will to rebuild our battered institutions and systems, and refreshing vision for younger generation of Nigerians in education, agriculture, technology, industry and commerce, including his capacity to heal a broken country. As we stand at the crossroads of history once again, we are presented with contrasting visions espoused by those who seek to lead. When all the fanfare fades into obscurity, our challenges remain and require a surgical operation of a true patriot and pragmatic leader, and that of our brightest stars, in the mould of Atiku Abubakar.
