Este livro analisa a interface da comunicação organizacional com a comunicação pública, partindo do pressuposto de que as organizações privadas também se inserem no contexto democrático, que inclui a deliberação para tomada de decisão e, neste sentido, entrelaça-se com a comunicação pública, que é voltada para o interesse público. Assim, variados recursos comunicativos e as transformações nos padrões de engajamento cívico dos cidadãos estão exigindo que as estratégias e políticas de comunicação organizacionais também levem em conta as demandas das esferas públicas, bem como a contribuição que podem dar para a constituição de capital social. Sob o ponto de vista teórico, este livro aborda inicialmente os conceitos de esfera pública e democracia, participação e deliberação que alicerçam a interface entre comunicação organizacional e comunicação pública. Por fim, são apresentadas como têm sido, nas práticas de comunicação das organizações, as interações entre privado e público, considerando suas ações voltadas à responsabilidade socioambiental, permitindo analisar o nível dessa relação numa abordagem restrita a uma amostra do que tem sido realizado pelas empresas no Brasil e que serve, ainda que com limitações, para se entender os desafios que se apresentam para o alcance efetivo da interação entre as práticas de comunicação pública e organizacional.
