"El arte de la guerra" es el mejor libro de estrategia de todos los tiempos.
Inspiró a Napoleón, Maquiavelo, Mao Tse Tung, Menem. Tiene 2500 años de antigüedad, pero no es un libro de práctica militar, solamente, sino un tratado que enseña la estrategia de aplicar con sabiduría el conocimiento de la naturaleza humana en los momentos de confrontación.
Es una obra para comprender las raíces de un conflicto y buscar la solución.
El principal libro japonés sobre el tema: "El libro de los 5 anillos" está influenciado por la filosofía de Sun Tzu ya que su autor, Miyamoto Mushashi, estudió el tratado de "El arte de la guerra" durante su formación como Samurai.
Fue traducido al francés y publicado en 1772 por el jesuita Joseph Marie Amiot.
En 1905 el oficial británico Everard Ferguson Calthrop intentó una traducción parcial al inglés bajo el título "The Book of War".
Líderes políticos y militares como el revolucionario Mao Zedong, el daimio japonés Takeda Shingen y el general estadounidense Norman Schwarzkopf se inspiraron en esta obra.
En 1972 fueron descubiertas unas tablillas de bambú en la Montaña del Gorrión de Plata (Yinqueshan) en dos tumbas de la dinastía Han (206 a.C. - 220 d.C.) cerca de la ciudad de Linyi en la provincia de Shandong, selladas entre los años 134 y 118 a. C., cuyos textos se atribuían a Sun Bin y a Sun Zi (Sun Tzu).
El general Vo Nguyen Giap, cerebro militar detrás de las victorias sobre los franceses y norteamericanos en Vietnan, fue un apasionado estudiante y practicante de las ideas de Sun Tzu, lo que atrajo a los yanquis a estudiarlo.
El Departamento del Ejército de los Estados Unidos, a través de su Escuela de Comando y Estado Mayor, ordena a todas sus unidades que mantengan bibliotecas para la educación continua de su personal, en las que se hallan ejemplares de "El Arte de la Guerra".
El viejo tratado chino aparece como lectura obligatoria de los Marines. En la Guerra del Golfo, Colin Powell, practicó los principios sobre el engaño, la velocidad y el ataque sobre el enemigo.
En mi caso particular, las distintas sentencias me han servido para transportarlas al mundo del deporte que más amo y he podido aplicarlas durante mis 45 años de jugador y mis 12 de entrenador.
Dirigiendo desde las fuerzas básicas, pasando por las categorías inferiores hasta primera división.
He tomado las prácticas pedagógicas y he conducido con la convicción que cada jugador se hiciera de un ejemplar y que trabajemos, en un momento de la semana, en grupo, algún capítulo o sección del mismo, pudiendo penetrar en el cerebro de mis jugadores, enseñar y mostrar a este genio chino aplicando sus tácticas y estrategia de guerra al fútbol.
Los resultados han sido fantásticos demostrando gran interés cada jugador al ver que lo enseñado se cumplía en el entrenamiento, en el partido, durante el año y en el desarrollo de su vida, aplicando estas enseñanzas fuera del fútbol también.

Mis intenciones son hacerle llegar este trabajo a quien le interese el más hermoso de todos los deportes del mundo (postura claramente subjetiva, individual y personal), compartir mi vocación por la docencia, mi amor y mi agradecimiento a todo lo que me dio y me da este deporte y es absolutamente aplicable a cualquier otro deporte en equipo, incluso, a cualquier trabajo en equipo.
