About the Book

This is a collection of photos taken of T-Walls decorated by US Service Members in areas involved with their travel to and from Operation Iraqi Freedom. The areas where photos were taken include Kuwait and Iraq. Pictures they drew represent units who were deployed to the area, identify services near by, or memorialize fallen friends. Over time as units came and went, these T-Walls would be moved and re-used. Worn by time and the environment, they still speak to those who pass by them during their daily routines, of those who were there before. The authors wanted to capture the work, dedication and pride that went into the decoration of these walls. In some cases it was like a puzzle, where one picture was painted over to or more T-walls, which no longer stood side by side. Locating every section of a painting was like unlocking a hidden secret. The authors hope to capture as many of these pictures as possible before they are gone forever.
