Al leer Arrayán de Julio César Goyes que reúne sus libros El eco y la mirada (2001) y El quinde y los geranios (2013), nos queda la certidumbre de que la niñez es el único territorio donde todavía vuela el colibrí. En el primero de sus poemarios el tránsito se inicia en un patio de arrayanes con cuyes, donde una infancia expectante festeja la tierra natal del autor (Ipiales), para luego emprender el descubrimiento de una interiorizada Europa poblada de signos y evocaciones, mientras la indagadora escritura no renuncia a ser deseo y origen, y arrastra en el torrente el linaje de sus palabras de sol y sus silencios de luna. Luego, en El quinde y los geranios, la última de sus creaciones poéticas, el lector es invitado a vigilar el perturbador cáliz del poema, con el mágico propósito de cautivar a un misterioso dios errante, a un ser que conoce los secretos de la levedad y la muerte, vistoso señor del reino de la sorpresa, arcoíris fugitivo que reparte en su viaje la ventura y la fatalidad, que irrumpe y desaparece como si conociese los arcanos de lo invisible: el tucsito, tominejo, Q'inti o colibrí; íngrima ave que las culturas andinas distinguen como una deidad diminuta y grácil, cuyo poder no debe ser subestimado pues con su vertiginosa sabiduría vence al déspota cóndor encegueciéndolo como lo describe una leyenda Inca. Y este pájaro del sueño, que simboliza la libertad -según su mitología se suicida al estar en cautiverio-, para Goyes es epifanía: mitad carne trémula, mitad relámpago, y aunque ya ha sido poetizado en las más diversas literaturas, es fundamental afirmar que el evasivo diosito recobra aquí su luminiscencia gracias a la tierna y lúcida aproximación del autor, que con una percepción afinada durante sus años iniciáticos, logra que el sigiloso ser conformado de palabras descienda y ascienda entre pezones ardientes, bebiendo en la flor de nuestra memoria, dibujando con su misterioso vuelo el símbolo del infinito, y sembrando en nuestro interior el dulce deseo de que siempre a nuestra ventana llegue un suave mensaje, casi susurro, procaz picoteo en el silencio. Docente investigador del IECO de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia donde dirige Quinde Audiovisuales: Morada al sur, beca de artes visuales (1999), El pacto (2003), Carros alegóricos (2009), La semana del diablo, beca DIB (2011) y Viaje a la claridad (2012). Ha publicado: Tejedor de instantes (SMD, 1992); Imago silencio, premio de poesía Sol de los Pastos (1997); El rumor de la otra orilla, premio de ensayo Morada al Sur (SMD, 1997); El eco y la mirada, beca ICI, España (Trilce, 2001); Imaginario postal (SMD, 2010); Nubes verdes para una ciudad gris (Caza de Libros, 2010); La escena secreta, premio Obra selecta de la Universidad Nacional (2011) y La imaginación poética (Caza de Libros, 2012).
