Dies ist nicht das erste Buch gegen den Behaviorismus; große Geister haben mit guten Argumenten gegen ihn gestritten. Daß er dennoch bisher überlebt hat, ist für uns ein Zeichen für seine beherrschende Position, die er in den letzten Jahr- zehnten innerhalb der westlichen Psychologie innehatte. Dies ist der Anlaß für die Anwendung des Paradigmabegriffs (sensu Kuhn) auf das behavioristische For- schungsprogramm; wir haben uns dabei der wissenschafttheoretischen Rekon- zeptualisierung dieses Begriffs innerhalb einer neuen wissenschaftstheoretischen Theorie-Explikation, dem sog. non statement-view (Stegmüller) bedient, und zwar in der Form, die Herrmann für die Anwendung in nicht-formalisierten (Sozial-)Wissenschaften entwickelt hat. Auf der Grundlage der zunehmenden Schwierigkeiten und Aporien, in die das behavioristische Paradigma seit den 60er Jahren geraten ist, ergibt sich die Ausgangsthese vom Niedergang des Beha- viorismus, und d. h. vom Paradigmawechsel im Sinne Kuhns: der Behaviorismus hat sich - wie jedes herrschende Paradigma in der Phase der, normal science' -, zu Tode gesiegt'. Die Richtung des potentiellen neuen Paradigmas ergibt sich aus der (gemeinsamen) Struktur der kognitions-psychologischen Ansätze, die die empirischen Anomalien des behavioristischen Forschungsprogramms erklären können. Dabei ist dies auch nicht das erste Buch für eine kognitive Psychologie; aber es versucht doch, diese Perspektive konstruktiv weiterführend und programma- tisch auszuarbeiten. Das größte theoretische Entwicklungspotential sehen wir hier in dem Ansatz, der Kognitionen des menschlichen Erkenntnisobjekts als Re- flexionen analog zum Selbstbild des Wissenschaftlers auffaßt: also als (subjektive) Theorien.
