About the Author: Before pursuing her dream of becoming a writer, Mary Kay Remick raised four children, lived in nine states, sold real estate, managed an electronic company and, after completing her education at the University of Alabama/Huntsville, where she studied psychology and sociology, and at A&M University, where she studied guidance and counseling, served as a certified substance abuse specialist in the state mental health system. She directed an in-patient treatment program for indigent male alcoholics and later directed a program for females. After retiring, Remick devoted herself to writing full time. Her short stories and articles won awards and appeared in numerous regional publications. But it took ten years for her first novel to appear in print. SEARCHING FOR BLANCHE (based on Tennesse William's A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE)won rave reviews and an option from Tri-Star Columbia for film rights. The option lapsed when the Writer's Guild went on strike.
