About the Book

Are ghosts real?" This age old question seems to have plagued most of humanity for centuries. The evidence that ghosts do exist is compelling, but certainly inconclusive. In this narrative, the author, Peggy Hicks sheds some light on this strange phenomenon. This story details all the hardship and violence one might expect from a true Wild West tale. Jennie Bauters aka "Belgian Jennie was said to be the richest madam in the Arizona Territory. " She was from Antwerp, Belgium. She sailed across the Atlantic destined for the United State of America in 1896. Jennie owned and operated several houses of "ill repute". They called these women soiled doves, prostitutes, or madams. The truth is, they were whores and everybody knew it. Explore the details of Belgian Jennie's gruesome murder by her lover "CC" as she ran barefoot in her nightclothes down a dusty road. Learn about her controversial burial. Find out why one hundred years later her bones were dug up and thrown in a Home Depot bucket! Since these disturbing events, there have been reported sightings of a female apparition resembling Jennie, haunting the darkened streets of GoldRoad, Oatman, Jerome and Kingman, Arizona. Some believe that this is indeed the ghost of Belgian Jennie. After reviewing the evidence presented in this book, you can decide for yourself if you believe that ghosts are real.
About the Author: Peggy Hicks was born at home in rural Colorado in 1953. Being the oldest of ten siblings, she soon began telling imaginary tales to keep her little brothers and sisters amused. At the early age of 12 years old, she published a short play that was purchased by the well-known educational publisher, Scott Foresman. Growing up in the sixties, with guitar in hand, she began turning her stories into poems and her poems into folk songs which she sometimes performed at local gatherings and auditoriums. She has since added many credits to her name as a musician, writer, narrator, real estate agent and local historian. She is active in her local community and chamber of commerce. Peggy is the proud mother of five grown children, three boys and two girls, with a total of ten grandchildren. Today, Peggy lives with her longtime partner Dennis in the beautiful foothills of Mingus Mountain just outside of Jerome. The two of them own and operate a rock and gift shop in Jerome called "Arizona Discoveries". They love to inform and entertain the tourists who drop by their gift shop. Author, Peggy Hicks combines her interest in Madams of the Old West, her love of Arizona History and ghost theories into a one of kind of stories. She is also the author of two other books, both available on Amazon. 1. The Ghost of the Cuban Queen Bordello, a 1920's Jerome Arizona Madam 2. Ghost Town Stories and Wicked Legends
