Unter der Dynastie der Attaliden wurde Pergamon zum vielseitigsten, dynamischsten und international bestens vernetzten Zentrum des Architekturschaffens im hellenistischen Kleinasien. Uber den Ausbau ihrer Residenzstadt hinaus nahmen die Herrscher als Stadtgrunder, Bauherren oder Finanziers Einfluss auf das Baugeschehen in Stadten und Heiligtumern der 'Provinz' des Reiches, seiner Peripherie und des griechischen Mutterlandes. Die bemerkenswerte Architektur Pergamons wird in unterschiedlichen Facetten seit langem diskutiert. Bislang fehlte aber eine Synthese, die zum einen Parameter und Radius der herrscherlichen Aktivitaten thematisiert und zum anderen generell nach Spielarten und Intensitat moglicher 'Brechungen' pergamenischer Architektur auf regionaler und lokaler Ebene fragt. So legt etwa das Befundbild aus der Region um Pergamon nahe, dass typische Bauideen, -techniken und -dekorformen auch jenseits attalidischer Bauprojekte Verbreitung fanden. Die vorliegende Untersuchung schliesst diese Lucke, indem sie urbanistische Wesenszuge, Bautypen und Baudekorformen aus Pergamon in ein weiteres Vergleichsumfeld einordnet und dabei versucht, sie nach regionalen oder lokalen Kontexten, politischen Konstellationen bzw. Interessendispositionen sowie Transferwegen und -modi von Architektur zu differenzieren. Sowohl fur den Einzelfall als auch fur das Gesamtbild stellt sich die Kernfrage, in wieweit mit Blick auf die uberregionale hellenistische Architektur-Koine von hinreichend spezifisch 'pergamenischen' Charakteristika die Rede sein kann und in welchem Mass vor dem Hintergrund der strukturellen Gegebenheiten im Attalidenreich und der regionalen Bautraditionen uberhaupt 'Bedarf', Wille und Raum zur Adaption pergamenischer Architekturideen aufkommen konnten.
