About the Book

English summary: Until now, little attention has been paid to the man responsible for the rediscovery of Archimedes, Iacopo of San Cassiano. The first part of this volume follows Iacopo from the Stadium of Pavia to the court of the Gonzagas and to the curia of Nicholas V. The second part of the book focuses on the Latin tradition and its witness accounts, which are attributed exclusively to Iacopo of San Cassiano. Iacopo's work seems to be based on a codex from the ninth century, currently known as Codex A. The third part of the book is dedicated to exploring this hypothesis. Italian text.
