About the Book

Sheriff Malcolm Blake and his wife, Janae, are upscale citizens of London County, and they have everything in life that they desire, except a baby to love and cherish. Early one morning, after they've waited many years, their lifelong dream becomes a reality when they are notified a baby, Alexis, is available for adoption. They fully accept the challenge of nurturing and grooming her in hopes that she will grow up to be a blended replica of each of them. However, Alexis has no desire to become, what she considers, her parent's puppet on a string, and no matter how many materialistic possessions she is given, she grows up to become an ungrateful, evil, and vicious child.

Sheriff Malcolm Blake and his wife, Janae, are upscale citizens of London County, and have everything in life that they desire, except a baby to love and cherish. Finally early one morning their lifelong dream becomes a reality, as they are notified a baby was in need of adoption. Excited about being parents, Malcolm and Janae brought Alexis home from the hospital and promised to smother her with the finest things in life, and to nurture and groom her hoping that she would be the replica of both of them; but Alexis' had other plans for her life. Alexis had no desire to be, what she considered, her parent's puppet on a string, and no matter how many materialistic possessions she was given, she grew into an ungrateful, evil and vicious child.

After serving eight years in a federal prison, Tamone (Mona) is finally released on good behavior. Excited and anxious to return into society and reclaim her title as one of society's biggest Social Butterflies, Mona quickly uses every tactic learned from her mother, and from her prison lover, Sam, to snatch back everything she lost, including her ex-husband Andrew. But in the midst of celebrating and scheming, a skeleton from Mona's closet comes back to haunt her. Mona finally has to confront her daughter, Alexis, the daughter she gave away and the daughter whose wedding she interrupted on her wedding day, face to face.

Never being fearful of anything or anyone, Mona is frightened as she stares into Alexis' eyes that are filled with fire and hatred. Alexis is bitter and angry because Mona gave her away at birth and has vowed to make her pay. However, Alexis decides to bury the hatchet for now and team up with Mona to become successful event planners. However, the tides begin to turn as Mona is blackmailed and forced to fire Alexis, before Mona's criminal past is exposed to her employers. Afraid of losing everything she gained, Mona confides in Alexis and they both decide to take matters in their own hands and get rid of the black mailer. Mona takes the back seat and watches Alexis mentally spin out of control, and evolves into someone more evil and diabolical than herself. Mesmerized over Alexis' behavior, Mona hears a faint voice in her ear that sounded like the voice of her deceased mother, whisper "An Apple Don't Fall Far From the True."
