ANTOLOGÍA DEL CORAZÓN Desde Aristóteles, el primero en normar el género literario de la tragedia, la comedia y la épica, los más importantes filósofos del arte contemporáneo desde Goethe, Schiller hasta Heidegger y Derrida han convenido en considerar el objeto estético no sólo como un producto puramente formal, resultado del rigor y del oficio, sino además la necesidad de contener principios morales y más tarde, durante el romanticismo y hasta nuestros días, la de expandir nuestro conocimiento sobre el hombre y el mundo como un medio importante del saber junto a la ciencia... (...) Estas reflexiones surgen cuando se trata de una poesía como la de Carlos Johnson Bordalí, donde precisamente su poesía consciente o inconsciente busca unir la belleza al contenido ético y social como una necesidad de expresión más integral y humanista... (...) Siempre hemos pensado que por alguna razón que no obedece a la conciencia del poeta o del narrador, en los primeros párrafos o en el primer poema se condensa algo así como la poética, la filosofía, la concepción ética y estética del autor; tal vez el material creativo se organiza en todo artista, en cualquier arte e igualmente en la ciencia, de acuerdo a leyes inmanentes, una especie de metafísica de la estructura, de la composición que busca un orden, un equilibrio, al margen de la voluntad de su creador. En el caso de Carlos Johnson aparece ya en el primer poema del libro, en la sección subtitulada Mundo de Plástico, un poema llamado "El extravío" donde en algunas estrofas al final del poema plantea su poética, su concepción moral de la vida y del mundo en versos donde se defina a sí mismo con un guiño al Pablo Neruda del autorretrato: "Con la cultura del instante eres volátil como el viento/ y como un relámpago fugaz/ incoherente frente a lo frágil/ ligero como una nube/ ingenuo como niño/ hedonista en fin del siglo que se asoma al milenio de la luz..." Carlos Johnson se define como un poeta sin alternativa, condenado al grillo permanente de la poesía, a sobrellevar el peso de las palabras que lo alivian, salvan y a la vez condenan a permanecer con los ojos abiertos día y noche: pues en esa mirada a oscuras o a plena luz se condensa el peso de la vida, de la sociedad, de la historia que él necesita testificar y embellecer: "Yo no elegí ser poeta/ es cierto: / la vida me lo impuso/ la tierra me lo gritó/ y el viento lo susurraba". Pero el guiño a Neruda que ya señalamos no es la única muestra de que Carlos Johnson se asume en la gran tradición literaria de Chile, si no en la forma en los temas como vemos en el poema "Canto a la Marisquería", donde recoge el dionisiaco, erótico y palpitante legado culinario del océano chileno del Pablo de Rokha de "Epopeya de las comidas y las bebidas de Chile": "Isabel/ que me desconchas el alma/ Y en una paila/ loco por tu amor/ bebo el vino/ de tu cáliz./ De púrpura/ visten tus gredas/ que al puerto aroman/ Y mi Valparaíso mustio/ ríe entre machas/ y chupes marineros". Este poeta ha sido capaz de extraer los jugos de la ciudad y con ello su alma y su espíritu, es decir, su cultura: y ya estamos dentro de una poesía que se niega al puro juego, al abalorio verbal. Su destino como poeta lo obliga sin querer a una toma de posición frente al país y a la historia: lo que trasciende de su poesía y la hace beligerante y a la vez permanente. En la última parte "Alma de Mujer" une la poesía de la ciudad, Valparaíso, con la vivencia erótica: mujer y ciudad, calles y plazas, y así se nos va este poeta que queda irremediablemente preso en su propia salsa: el verbo de sus páginas con todo lo bueno, noble y permanente de la vida, atrapado en sus versos: testimonio y universalidad como toda gran poesía, toda importante obra de arte.
