About the Book

Since 1775, the United States has been involved in fourteen major wars and numerous smaller conflicts and contingency operations. For over twenty-five years, historian and author Bryan J. Dickerson has been researching and writing about military, naval and religious history. In his Anthology of Military and Cold War History, historian Bryan J. Dickerson examines various aspects of nine of the major wars, the Cold War and one of the contingency operations. Two of his articles pertain to the War for Independence, specifically the formation of the Continental Navy and the establishment of the Navy Chaplain Corps. His sole Civil War article discusses the Third Day of the Battle of Gettysburg. While most of his articles pertain to American Military History, Dickerson writes four articles about the British Army in World War One. In more recent times, two of his articles cover Operation Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom - the latter of which the author served in on two deployments. Cold War history topics include the Cuban Missile Crisis and Winston Churchill's famed "Iron Curtain Speech" at Westminster College, Missouri. Bryan J. Dickerson specializes in World War Two and accordingly thirteen of the Anthology's thirty-four articles pertain to that war. Of these, seven relate to the U.S. Army's liberation of western Czechoslovakia. Other World War Two articles discuss the Battle of Midway, the Battles of Luneville, France, and the capture of the Maginot Line by the U.S. Army. The Anthology articles are also diverse in their subject type. There are biographies, unit histories, ship histories as well as histories of battles and campaigns. Three articles focus on specific weapons systems, ie. the B-52 Stratofortress bomber, tanks and armored vehicles and atomic / nuclear weapons. Bryan J. Dickerson's Anthology of Military and Cold War History represents over twenty-five years of historical research and writing. It draws together most of his online published works into one convenient publication. The text of the Anthology's articles is supplemented by numerous photographs, many of which the author took himself.
About the Author: Bryan J. Dickerson has a Bachelors degree in History and a Masters degree in American History and is a twice-deployed U.S. Navy veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He is the former Editor of Cold War Times, the online newsletter of the Cold War Museum of Warranton, Virginia. This is his fourth CreateSpace book. He is also the author of The Liberators of Pilsen: The U.S. 16th Armored Division in World War Two Czechoslovakia published by McFarland Publishing of Jefferson, North Carolina.
