About the Book

"I hit the call again and this time I was certain. The sound was distant but carried just enough volume to sift through pine branches and bird songs and confirm that I had just heard my first gobbler in the wild! I can't adequately describe the feeling that came over me on that clear, cool spring morning. Suffice it to say I was hooked solid and the thrill has only grown after all these years." Come share the passion of Outdoorsman Geoff Burden as he journeys through the swamps, fields and pine plantations of his South Carolina Lowcountry in his quest for one of North America's most coveted and elusive wild game animals--the eastern subspecies of the Wild Turkey. Experience the joy of this annual springtime ritual and the roller coaster of emotions as each story unfolds to reveal something of the heart and character of our Creator.
About the Author: Geoff Burden was introduced to the outdoors at an early age by his grandfather and instantly fell in love with the woods and waterways of the South Carolina Lowcountry. However school and organized athletics left little time to pursue his passion. After graduating from Charleston Southern University, he took every available opportunity to be in the outdoors either fishing or pursuing the Whitetail deer. Geoff developed a love of reading and literature at a young age, due in large part to his mother's positive influence. At 13 he received an acoustic guitar and soon after began writing song lyrics. At 19 he encountered Jesus Christ and thus began a lifelong journey to understand the love and grace of God. Much of this journey has been expressed in journal entries and song. He went on to record a CD with his former band Seven Days Journey and released his first solo project "Far from Adam" in 2007. Somewhere near the year 2000 Geoff discovered his greatest outdoor passion when he went on his first turkey hunt. Since hearing that first gobbler, he has spent countless hours in pursuit of the elusive wild turkey and his passion continues to grow after all these years. Geoff eventually turned his passion into a business when he began making custom diaphragm calls for StrutBuster, the company he founded in 2011. Years as an outdoorsman have taught Geoff that each day afield is teeming with unique opportunities to learn valuable life lessons. In Answer the Call, Geoff shares several of his most memorable turkey hunting experiences and the wisdom and spiritual insights gained therein. He is a passionate speaker/teacher on the love and grace of God and has spoken at several churches and outdoor events. Geoff resides in a remote corner of the South Carolina Lowcountry where he pursues his passion for writing and the outdoors.
