About the Book

See below for English description.

When Anna Swan came into the world in August of 1846, people chattered about her. Because even when she was small, Anna was tremendous -- before she turned ten, she towered over her father. Anna grew up feeling like she bulged out from all sorts of spaces. Then, at age seventeen, she moved to New York City to be part of P.T. Barnum's Gallery of Wonders -- and her life changed forever.

The uplifting take of an extraordinary woman who overcame early struggles is brought to life by two Montreal creators, as Anne Renaud's playful rhythmic language makes it a perfect read-aloud, while Marie Lafrance's gorgeous illustrations convey historical period and sensitivity. This book includes a thoroughly researched author's note with photographs and more information about Anna's remarkable life.
