Our concepts about angels have been influenced by many things in our world. In my generation, who cannot remember the old classic songs, "Teen Angel" and "Pretty Little Angel Eyes?" Perhaps you share my sentiment about one of the favorite all-time movies, "It's A Wonderful Life." Who can forget the work of the angel, Clarence, in helping George Bailey (Jimmy Stewart) come to grips with the importance of his life. Of course, Clarence (formerly a human who had passed into heaven) was doing it to earn ... wait for it ... his angel wings. Remember, when a little bell rang, it was the indication that another angel had earned his wings. What a sweet movie! What a twisted concept of angels! Hollywood has also given us "Angels in the Outfield," "Meet Joe Black," "City of Angels" and some forty plus other titles.1 Man's view of angels began a long time before Hollywood got involved. Think of the art of the old masters. Many of them depicting the birth of Christ, showed little winged beings hovering around. Also standing in wonderment would be angelic female figures with flowing hair and bright wings. But, then, of course, we have the biblical stories that give us good glimpses into the realm of angels. Those revelations will make up the material for this book. Others have written some hair-raising and incredibly inspiring books about personal encounters with angels. There are some very good ones on the market. However, I am leaving those efforts to the very gifted writers who were led to share in that way. This book will focus entirely on the biblical revelation about angels. I use the method of questions and answers. I fully realize that you may have other questions that I may not address. I hope and pray that if I failed to address a particular question, it is because the Bible does not address it. If that is not the case, then I apologize ahead of time.
About the Author: The author is a retired minister, living in the suburbs of Atlanta with his wife, JoAnn. They attend the First Baptist Church of Powder Springs. He enjoys a number of past times such as writing, acrylic art and playing trombone with some area community bands and in his church orchestra. Before retiring from full time ministry, He served several churches in the metro Atlanta area and served the North American Mission Board for ten years. Dr. McLeod has written three previous religious books which are a Bible studies on light and darkness, and on alcohol and a weekly word study. They are Whatcha See? Released in 2009; Whatcha Have? released in 2012; and Put the WOW Factor in Your Bible Study! released in 2013. Angels Q&A! came about from a collection of study notes over a couple of decades. In July, 2013, McLeod had an opportunity to teach a four-part series on angels to his good friends and Christian family at the Chapel of the Unicoi Springs RV Resort in Helen, Georgia. Folks seemed hungry to learn more about angels, so he used the renewed study as a basis for this book. In addition to biblical study books, McLeod has also written a series of short novels. They deal with fictional FBI agent, John Buckalew, and look into his life in five year intervals from 1958 through 1983. McLeod includes points of interest and historical information about Atlanta as a backdrop for the novels. His desire was to write that series with several purposes in mind. First, he wanted the stories to be mystery/action stories, clean enough for Christians to feel comfortable reading. Also, he wanted them to showcase the city of Atlanta and tell some of its history along the way.
