Öffentliche Kindertageseinrichtungen haben sich in Deutschland längst als elementare Institutionen der frühkindlichen Förderung etabliert. Ihr Bildungsauftrag liegt in der Förderung individueller Kompetenzen, der Unterstützung des kindlichen Drangs, die Welt zu erkunden und der Werterziehung. Die pädagogische Qualität der Einrichtungen hängt dabei ganz wesentlich von der Qualifizierung ihrer Fachkräfte ab. Die vorliegende Bachelorarbeit befasst sich mit der Professionalisierung von Fachkräften in der frühen Kindheitspädagogik. Der Autor zeigt die Dynamik und die Gründe der aktuellen Professionsdebatte sowie die daraus resultierenden Anforderungen an pädagogische Fachkräfte auf. Auch geht er der Frage nach, welchen Gewinn eine Akademisierung der kindheitspädagogischen Ausbildung mit sich bringt. Ausgegangen wird dabei von der Hypothese, dass sich ein positiver Zusammenhang feststellen lässt zwischen einer formal höher qualifizierten Fachkraft und einer qualitativ höherwertigen pädagogischen Arbeit im Vergleich zu Fachkräften mit einem formal niedrigeren Qualifikationsniveau. Im ersten Abschnitt der Bachelorarbeit wird auf die aktuelle Professionsdebatte eingegangen. Sie erhält dabei eine geschichtliche Einordnung, es wird auf das Ausbildungsniveau der Erzieher_innen im Internationalen Vergleich eingegangen, auf ihren Kontext zu PISA und den Bologna-Prozessen und abschließend auf die veränderten Erwartungen und neuen Anforderungen an die Fachkräfte. Im zweiten Abschnitt wird die Professionsforschung behandelt. Es finden sich begriffliche Definitionen von "Profession", "Professionalität" und der "Kindheitspädagogik". Abschließend wird auf den Stand der Forschung eingegangen. Im dritten Abschnitt folgt eine Betrachtung verschiedener Studien, Gutachten und Untersuchungen.
