About the Book

Synopsis of Android Generation, a novel by Paolo Demontis

Nick Van Dick is an inmate of the maximum-security prison of Ganymede. Sentenced to thirty years' imprisonment is indicated by the director of the penitentiary Muller as a possible candidate for inclusion in a rehabilitation program that provides for the immediate acquisition of freedom. Van Dick is a young individual possessing the qualities required to become part of the storm troops of the Federation involved in the conquest of a newly found planet but inhabited by a mysterious race of aliens called Ashi. Meanwhile, in a laboratory of the Moon, Honecher, the supreme commander of all military forces of the Federation, is carrying out an experiment which will have to produce a new generation of androids who can claim their own self-determination and an uncommon superhuman strength, besides a keen speed of reaction and of movement. The androids will be mass-produced in order to be used in the military forces charged to oppose to the Ashi. The prototype of the new species is a female named Levis, beautiful, charming and deadly. She will be chosen to mate with Van Dick in a man-android marriage never experimented until then and procreate one of the progenitors of the revolutionary breed that will form the new colony after the end of the war. Sol 27-4000 is in fact a virgin world and rich in resources as the primordial Earth, where human presence has not yet led to the collapse of its habitat. The Ashi, however, are more combative than expected and in possession of weapons that bring into serious difficulties the Confederate Army. Their appearance is unknown, and their technique of guerrilla produces scary voids in the ranks of the invaders. With ups and downs the federate army will arrive to the final assault in which perhaps the very soul of the planet will unleash tremendous forces to inflict a mortal blow to the troops of the attackers and force them to give up their attempt. The survivors of the expedition, including of course Van Dick and Levis, will have to build their future, relying only on the few remaining resources and finally give life to a society pure and innocent secretly advocated by the initial intents of the shipment. The Ashi will not reveal ever their real appearance, nor they will seek to oppose in some way the settlement of humans as long as their presence does not turn into a devourer cancer, as had already happened in the past for the other countless worlds conquered by humanity.
