Autobiography: John Frederick Derr, RPh, FASCP has over 60 years of "C" level corporate executive healthcare experience. He has held executive positions with Squibb, Searle, Siemens, Kyocera, and National Medical Enterprises. John is a successful Entrepreneur having started and been CEO of four international healthcare companies with product lines in clinical chemistry, ceramic orthopedic implants, database marketing, and laser dermatology. He has worked in Washington, DC, since 2002 in the healthcare specialty profession of Long-Term & Post-Acute Care (LTPAC). John was the Executive Vice President of the American Health Care Association (AHCA)/National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL) and a Board Director of the National Association for the Support of Long-Term Care. He was the Senior VP and Chief Information Officer (CIO) for Golden Living, LLC, one of the largest full-service LTPAC providers in the world with over 300 Skilled Nursing Facilities, Assisted Living Facilities, Home Care, Therapy, and Medication Management. He is considered an LTPAC Healthcare Subject Matter Expert (SBE), and in 2004, John was asked by Secretary Tommy Thompson to coordinate LTPAC Health IT at President Bush's Press Conference to digitize healthcare. He has served on various Federal and Association Advisory Boards including 6+ years as a Member of the first Congressional Appointed Federal Health Information Technology Advisory Standards Committee. Currently, he is the founder of multiple healthcare Information Technology groups including the LTPAC Health IT Collaborative in 2005 (www.LTPACHIT.org).
John Derr is a Graduate of the Purdue University School of Pharmacy and was awarded as one of the 2005-2006 Purdue University Distinguished Alumnus. He holds an Executive Certificate from the Indiana University School of Business where he served on the Executive Program Advisory Board for 20 years. At the beginning of his civilian career in healthcare, he was nominated as an Outstanding Young Man in America. He was honored as a Purdue "Old Master" and in 2003 received the Tony Way Award from the National Association for the Support of Long-Term Care for outstanding service to the support of long-term care. He is a published author of a book and articles on LTPAC Healthcare. His healthcare career was published in the December 2023 LTPAC Journal, McKnights.
John Derr is a retired US Naval Captain of The Line where he served 30 years of Active and Active Reserve duty. He was the Reserve Commanding Officer of two Naval Destroyers and was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal for work he did as a Naval Officer and in The Pentagon.
In 2006, John made a trip around the world stopping in 8 major cities. The trip included, for the second time, many of the "Ancient Cure" novel sites in Tokyo, Japan and Singapore.
