Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2017 im Fachbereich BWL - Industriebetriebslehre, Note: 1,7, Georg-August-Universität Göttingen, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Wer an eine Autostadt in Deutschland denkt, denkt zwangsläufig an Ingolstadt, München, Wolfsburg oder Stuttgart. Eine Stadt wird häufig vergessen: Leipzig, das kleine Venedig. Unbemerkt stieg Leipzig in die erste Liga der Automobilstandorte auf. Im Sommer 2000 begann die BMW Group einen neuen Standort für ihr neues Automobilwerk zu suchen, und ein Jahr später hatte sich das Münchner Unternehmen für den Standort Leipzig entschieden. Leipzig setzte sich somit gegen circa 250 weitere Standorte durch. Unternehmen, die ihre Produktion ausweiten, wie im Fall von BMW, verlegen im Zuge der Globalisierung oft ihren Standort ins Ausland. Doch Leipzig konnte ein zweites Mal einen großen Automobilhersteller für seine Region gewinnen. Im Jahr 1998 baute schon die Firma Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG ihr neues Werk in Leipzig, weil ihr Werk in Zuffenhausen an die Grenzen seiner Produktionskapazitäten gestoßen war. Nun stellt sich die Frage: Wieso entscheiden sich immer öfter Unternehmen für Leipzig, anstatt ihre Werke in anderen Regionen oder im Ausland zu bauen? Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, zu ergründen, welche entscheidenden Faktoren bei der Standortwahl für BMW eine Relevanz besaßen und welche Rolle diese Faktoren bei der Standortwahl im Fall eines neuen BMW-Werks in Leipzig im Jahr 2000 gespielt haben. Um dies in der folgenden Seminararbeit darzulegen, werde ich zunächst im Kapitel 2 erläutern, welche Arten von allgemeinen Standortfaktoren es gibt und wie sich diese definieren. Im Anschluss beschreibe ich die für die Automobilindustrie spezifischen Standortfaktoren. Daraufhin erfolgt eine Darstellung wie das Standortwahlverfahren am Beispiel der BMW Group stattgefunden hat und welche Besonderheiten es hatte.
