Este trabajo es el ensayo que Tánger Sand ha elaborado a raíz de su Tesis Doctoral. Una investigación llevada a cabo en memoria agradecida al legado diamantado que tanto Freud como los Poetas del Tango ofrecieron a la humanidad, desde el latir incandescente de las fuentes clásicas de la Literatura, la Historia, la Filosofía y el Arte. Su discurso nos ofrece una mirada psicoanalítica del artista y su obra desde teorías freudianas, así como pone de relieve la importancia vital de la literatura en general, y de la poesía del tango en particular, allí donde la palabra es bálsamo y deviene lugar en el que habitar. Porque la palabra escrita es una manera de seguir caminando. De seguir respirando. La literatura es ese decir del alma que tiene que ser comunicado para poder seguir viviendo... La delicia, el placer de descubrir las obras literarias -afirma la autora-, es el inmenso placer que siente todo amante de La Palabra: de la palabra que nos conmina a pensar, y nos ayuda a clarear las oscuras, sutiles y enigmáticas profundidades del alma humana. En el texto late la oración de una utopía: el sueño enamorado de un mundo mejor. Un mundo coronado por un cielo libertario donde palpiten la justicia, la belleza y el amor. Y es a la vez un homenaje personal a los que hasta ahora han luchado por esta libertad desde sus rebeldías. Esa rebeldía que mana de las entrañas del pueblo apaleado, del hambre y la miseria; de la injusticia impregnándolo todo, entre callejas plateadas y cielos fulgurantes de estrellas: "Me crié -dice Cátulo Castillo- en el hogar de un dramaturgo perteneciente a una secta de anarcoliteratos, que firmaba sus artículos de protesta como Barbarroja. Mi padre, José González Castillo, murió un 22 de Octubre de 1937 dejándome como la más valiosa herencia su amor por la libertad y la justicia, y su pasión por el tango". A través de los textos leídos y analizados para la elaboración de esta investigación, la escritora comparte las reflexiones a las que ha llegado... La comprensión, en definitiva, del grandísimo sufrimiento humano que produce la herida del amor. Arrabal amargo... tus tristezas, tu barro y miseria, nos recuerda Tánger Sand volviendo el rostro a la incandescencia del tango "Arrabal amargo". Volviendo la mirada al esplendor de una época. Y como brillantemente explica: Aquella mágica noche de los tiempos nunca más se ha vuelto a dar: aquella conjura de escritores y poetas reunidos en lunas festivas de madrugadas y madrugadas sin ir a dormir; aquella infame injusticia, aquella extrema pobreza capaz de sublevar el barro y transfigurarlo en dorada poesía; aquella manera de disfrutar el día y la noche en el palpitar de los sesenta segundos que componen cada minuto; aquella pena amarga; aquella hiel y aquella angustia y aquella melancolía; aquella manera de sufrir... de amar... de vivir y de contarlo; esas tristezas y esas alegrías de las calles Corrientes y Esmeralda y ese grito desesperado del arrabal... ese perfume intenso con aromas a pura vida, hoy es llamarada del recuerdo que inflama, desbordándolo de belleza, nuestro corazón.
