Tras un laborioso parto Luisa sufre una hemorragia severa, seguida de una anemia cerebral que finalmente vino a causar daños en su memoria. Tales daños fueron manifestándose cada vez más intensamente, hasta que vino a nacer una nueva mujer, Blanca. Nervo desarrolla la historia interpolando bastante información sobre la amnesia y los asuntos relacionados con la memoria, haciendo gala de su acervo cultural y su romántica perspectiva de la vida. Una novela excelente.
About the Author: Amado Nervo Nació el 27 de agosto de 1870 en Tepic (Nayarit). Descendiente de una familia española que se estableció en San Blas. Su instrucción primaria la realiza en las modestas escuelas de su ciudad natal. Fallece su padre cuando tenía nueve años, y su madre le envió a un Colegio de Padres Romanos, al de Jacona, en Michoacán, que entonces gozaba de cierta fama. En este colegio y después en el seminario de Zamora, Michoacán, hizo sus estudios preparatorios. Ingresó en el Cuerpo diplomático; fue embajador de su país en Madrid (España) y en Montevideo (Uruguay). En el año 1894 se trasladó a la ciudad de México donde conoció a Manuel Gutiérrez Nájera y con él fundó la revista Azul. Su primera obra, la novela El bachiller (1895) muestra rasgos naturalistas, y en sus primeros libros de poemas, Perlas negras y Místicas (1898), ya aparecen características modernistas. Es en esta época cuando también funda la Revista Moderna. En 1900 es mandado a la Exposición Universal de París. Allí conoce personalmente a Verlaine, Wilde y a Rubén Darío. Escribe cuentos, libros de viaje, ensayos y, sobre todo poesías reunidas en el libro El éxodo y las flores del camino (1902). En 1901 conoce al gran amor de su vida, Ana Cecilia Luisa Dailliez, quién pierde la vida el 7 de enero de 1912. Su religiosidad la manifestó en obras como Los jardines interiores (1905), En voz baja (1909), Serenidad (1914), Elevación (1917) y Plenitud (1918). Su obra maestra es La amada inmóvil (1922), publicada póstumamente, inspirada en la muerte de Ana Daillez. Amado Nervo falleció en la ciudad de Montevideo, Uruguay, el 24 de mayo de 1919, en el Parque Hotel, donde vivía, siendo Jefe de la Misión Diplomática de México en Uruguay.
