Cette comédie illustre la triste mésaventure d'un homme châtié à vivre comme un gorille. L'enfant prodige savait qu'il s'agissait d'un homme qui souffrait proscrit dans une cage loin des siens, qu'il avait, hélas, méprisés. Il n'y a que trois personnages dans l'épisode: l'enfant, la bête et la belle inconnue.On s'y familiarise avec des éléments de la culture afro-cubaine Yoruba, qui fait partie indissoluble de l'idiosyncrasie cubaine. Et cette culture provenant de l'Afrique notamment nigérienne lors l'établissement de l'esclavage dans l'Amérique insulaire et faisant syncrétisme avec la culture ibérique, y compris la religion catholique, influence la pensée et la conduite des cubains noirs, blancs et mulâtres, dans le milieu socioculturel cubain. C'est justement cette culture Yoruba qui fait que le racisme ne soit pas un conflit social à Cuba. Cette assimilation socioculturelle est aussi implicite dans la comédie L'Enfant et la Bête par la Pierre de Yemaya, talisman de la chance.La prosodie de la comédie L'Enfant et la Bête n'a pas la rigidité qu'on trouve parfois dans les écrits en vers, par son argument et sa fantaisie qui permettent que le conflit aboutisse d'une façon cohérente et graduelle à une prise de conscience désirée, parallèlement avec la rupture du maléfice punissant un homme à agir comme une bête dans son calvaire, malgré un cours passage d'érotisme qui vient adoucir son chagrin.
