Inhaltsangabe: Einleitung: Dieses Stichwort der aktuellen Rechtsentwicklung ist wohl nicht nur auf Grund der zuletzt anhaltenden Rentendebatte zunehmend popularisiert worden. Der Gesetzgeber beschloss zum 01. Januar des vergangenen Jahres eine Reform der Altersteilzeit. Diese Reform verdiente ihren Namen zurecht, denn die Attraktivität und die Gestaltungsmöglichkeiten innerhalb einer eventuellen Anwendung stiegen gewaltig. Die Intension des Gesetzgebers war ebenfalls klar definiert: Er verkuppelte äußerst attraktive Förderaussichten mit der Tatsache, dass bei einer solchen Inanspruchnahme der frei werdende Platz wiederzubesetzen sei. Die Klientel, welche für eine solche Wiederbesetzung in Frage kommt, wurde ebenfalls vorgegeben; überwiegend sollten hierdurch die Arbeitslosenzahlen reduziert werden. Jedoch ließ der Gesetzgeber durchaus noch anderen Spielraum - eine Tatsache, die im späteren Kostenvergleich noch deutlich hervorzuheben ist - war sie es doch in vielen Fällen, die die Einführung von Altersteilzeitarbeitsplätzen in einem nicht unerheblichen Maße in vielen Firmen Wirklichkeit werden ließ. Die erneut geänderten Vorschriften - nur ein halbes Jahr später, also zum 01. Juli 2000 - brachten nochmals deutliche Fortschritte. So sind unter anderem neue Modelle der Altersteilzeit kreiert worden. Das Hauptziel des Altersteilzeitgesetzes, Beschäftigungsperspektiven für Arbeitslose zu schaffen, wird mit der neuen Regelung konsequenter verfolgt. Die Altersteilzeitregelung wird für kleine und mittlere Unternehmen praktikabler. Die Wiederbesetzung der Stellen wird erleichtert. Die Tatsache, dass die Altersteilzeit „wie Dornröschen aus dem Schlaf" wiederbelebt wurde, ging natürlich weder an den Arbeitgebern noch an den Arbeitnehmern spurlos vorüber. Nichts anderes passierte dann auch bei einer weltweit expandierenden Firma. Dort entschloss sich die Geschäftsführung, eine Einführung von Altersteilzeitarbeit konzeptionell zu überprüfen.
