In Along Sunken Roads, Guy Arneau, a young planter from Florida, incurs the wrath of a slave owner after being a part of a group of boys who kill a Yankee. His slave escapes with Guy's help, and they flee separately to join the armies. In Richmond, Guy is reacquainted with lovely Maureen, the woman he loves, but after her sister's wedding, she disappears.
Guy luckily earns an enlistment in General J. E. B. Stuart's cavalry, but his former college antagonist watches for opportunities to destroy him.
Like other books about the War Between the States, Along Sunken Roads emphasizes how boys became men early and how many were killed without ever returning home. The survivors faced a country left in shambles, broken promises, and reproachful memories.

In Along Sunken Roads she has presented a close look at lives of soldiers and civilians in their struggles to overcome adversity during the Civil War. A graduate of Muskingum University and Jacksonville University, Davidson lives on Fleming Island, Florida, with her husband, and is working on three other novels.
