About the Book

The author has preserved her family history in a full 350 page book, with standard exterior color formatting. The book is a "living breathing" document. It includes a collection of powerful stories and photos; land records and deeds; letters, obituaries, the Monk, Cole, Williams, Cogdell, Grantham, Raynor, Lofton, Hawkins genealogical charts, and other valuable information. This historical masterpiece is forthcoming for our families, and will be passed on from generations to generations. She lives in Connecticut, where she works as a Special Education Teacher in the New Haven Public Schools. However, she takes stock in the Newton Grove area because it is her ancestral home, and where her family originated from.
About the Author: The name "Monk" and fame are synonymous, and Pamela Monk most definitely lives up to her name as she continuously "stands out" in all her endeavors. Pamela is no stranger to the bright lights and the bustling sounds of the entertainment world. Her cousins are the legendary jazz pianist, Thelonious Monk and Super Bowl Fame, Art Monk. She is a proud mother of four children, Latrisha, LaShante', LaQuionna, and Larry Jr., and grandmother of four grandchildren, Darius, Kayla, Kennedy and Kamyrn. At an early age, she began playing the piano, drawing portraits, sewing and designing clothes, which in turn lead to her illustrious career. Pamela has been a teacher in the New Haven School System since 1977 and for close to 38 years, Pam has brought to the young people of New Haven both in the Public Schools and after-school programs, the magnificent art of performing and modeling. With a Masters Degree (MA) in School Psychology and Counseling, a Bachelor of Science (BS) and 6th Year Degree in Special Education, and Degree in Administration, she has used her experiences and education to develop a positive ministry through her community programs. From education to gospel, she is without limitation. Pamela is hysterical about history. She is the family historian and author of several books about her family's history. PAMELA MONK has written several volumes for the ALL ROADS LEAD TO NEWTON GROVE, the History of the Monk Family series. The books are about the story of the amazing Monk Family from Newton Grove, N.C., but should be used as a tool to ignite a family centered dialogue about origin and pride. She has appeared in the People Magazine, June 27, 2011 issue, featured in an article titled "Healing Slavery's Wounds".
