An unexpected telephone call from her Aunt Sessy one quiet, Sunday afternoon complicates Pepper May Thornton's already stressful life as a bank manager in New York City.
One moment Pepper is at Sessy's mansion in Tallulah Falls, Georgia reviewing old business records; the next, before she could think twice, on a plane heading to the Caribbean to investigate BNL, Ltd., a wayward company on the tiny island of St. Kitts.
On the surface, Aunt Sessy is a Southern belle from Tallulah Falls, Georgia--dainty, demure, and genteel. Behind it all, though, she is a tenacious business tycoon. At the moment, angry and ready to reclaim her stakes in the company. Pepper realizes there's just one problem--Sessy is eighty-nine years old and in no position to make the long trip, much less carry on any sort of investigation.
As her aunt's only hope, Pepper is called on to make some tough decisions and comes face-to-face with moral dilemmas. Pepper and Sessy know that the company is full of corruption, but they have to prove it. How will Pepper complete the daunting mission before everything comes crashing down? Will her conscience allow her to do whatever is needed to stop the ruthless company?
Determined to fulfill Sessy's wishes, brave Pepper tries to blend into island life, pushing her high-end city lifestyle aside. She bands together with a few special local friends, most notable among them being the mysterious Damian Finch. In the midst of all the chaos, Pepper discovers Damian's true feelings and must decide which path her life will take.
