A teenage George Davis leaves his native Michigan to begin what would be a lifetime of
larger than life adventures set against the picturesque backdrop of the Alaskan
wilderness. George recounts his austere, at times isolating, transition from life in the
lower 48 to living deep inside the sparsely populated yet vibrant so-called "Last Frontier".
Inspired by his older brother, and his own thirst for excitement, George takes to
the demanding environment and subsistence lifestyle. He quickly adapts to the ways of
the local population learning to live off the land and negotiate the at times treacherous
conditions. George supports himself and his wife with various types of skilled
labor and self-owned and operated businesses, fishing, mining, hunting, and flying in
addition to whatever else he came across that needed doing. Through personal and
professional trials and more than his fair share of close calls with certain death, George
drafted his own blueprint for living life at the edge of the world. Over the years, he
interacts with a steady stream of eccentrics, over-zealous Gaming officials, outlaws,
natives, and tourists each adding their own unique and unpredictable flavor to life on the
Alaskan tundra.
