About the Book

Taking a bold step, widow, Aimee McCormack, with her son, Jeremy, move to the big city of Chamberlain. On a full scholarship, he is to attend and reside at a military academy in the Fall. She starts a new job and a new life, anxious for the change . But steeped in bitterness and the nightmares that continue to haunt her, she has difficulty moving forward. Befriended by the Ross family, Scott and Jane, along with their son, Seth, who is the same age as Jeremy, the McCormacks settle in. The boys spend a carefree summer, enjoying the companionship while Jane and Aimee bond as well. Introduced to Jane's cousin, Rob Dalton, the widow is convinced more than ever she doesn't need a man in her life. After attending a church picnic with the Ross family, Aimee takes the next step by going to church. Her heart softens and over time, she becomes aware of her need for the Lord and the restoration only He can bring. The change in her demeanor intrigues Rob, encouraging him to date her. Learning to trust a man again is a huge step for the widow although Rob's kind actions and patience toward her son, as well as herself goes a long ways to promoting her inner healing. Still, life is not without its struggles, especially financial ones for Aimee. Taking a second job to improve finances, she has little time for a relationship. Unwilling to be discouraged, Rob finds creative ways to spend time with Aimee and Jeremy. When Christmas comes around, the couple are introduced to extended family members, enjoying time to rest and relax, improving their relationship. Taken back by the apparent wealth of the Dalton family, the young widow learns to relax and appreciate all of them: their genuine kindness and love for the Lord. All goes well until Aimee and Rob hit another road block when she fails to follow his counsel and purchase new tires for her car. An accident ensues one rainy evening, injuring Aimee. Emotions, especially anger arise when Rob discovers her complacent behavior although in reality she doesn't possess the means to have purchased tires. After their relationship is severed, Aimee buries herself in her work and school sports activities with Jeremy, avoiding Jane too. The nightmares return to haunt her, creating more misery. Rob's mother, Caroline, intervenes, lovingly expressing not only her love for Aimee, but reminding the widow how much the Lord cares for her as well. Once again, Aimee is reminded she does need the love and forgiveness of the Lord. With restoration comes the awful truth that she may have made a mess of her life. Caroline assures her that her son is not a quitter and not to be discouraged. A short time later, Rob is knocking on her door, asking her forgiveness and hoping they can move forward to the next level after stating the love he still has for her. She made it known she had forgiven him immediately after they broke up and continued to love him. After pressing her to marry, she agrees.
