Are you worried about your parent's health?
We all are worried about our parents, but very few live with them or nearby. As a result, parents do not share their problems with their children, especially those living far from them. They do not want their children to worry about them. But ageing comes with many issues that can be managed if we know how to cope.
Some families are well off and can arrange medical and allied health like physiotherapy or occupational therapy for parents. But it comes with a cost and time commitment and all people can't afford this or have time to arrange. Hence being an occupational therapist working in the community for over two decades, I decided to share what older people should know about them.
This self-help diary is designed to make elderly people self-reliant and independent in managing their day-to-day lives.
Despite some health issues, their slow walk, hard of hearing, coughing and snoring, forgetfulness, breathlessness, joint pains, and back pains, they do not complain.
As I step into later adulthood and my children ready to move forward with their career, I wonder how some of those who do not have any health professional in their family living and alone are manage and cope with the loneliness and issues related to ageing.
This sparked the idea to write this self-help book in a diary format to keep it as a friend and use evidence-based suggestions to manage things themselves.
This Diary will help the user keep a note of information related to their journey into elderhood. The last pages of this Diary have room to record essential numbers and medicine name with time to take in and, any medicine needed in an emergency mentioned by doctors.
Keep this Diary in your purse or pocket, whenever, wherever going out. It will help other people to contact related person in case of emergency.
