El fútbol argentino se desarrolló alrededor de dos ejes que se analizan en este libro: por un lado, la lucha entre los clubes poderosos y los más humildes para imponer sus necesidades; por otro, el hecho de que a partir de la popularidad de este deporte el Estado apareció siempre como el salvador para resolver los eternos déficits provocados por la corrupción o las malas administraciones. Cada capítulo ofrece elementos que permiten comprender cómo se construyó este imperio que parece tambalear. A lo largo de esta investigación se verá que casi nada de lo que conocemos en la actualidad es nuevo. Todo esto ya ocurrió hace muchos años: los clubes grandes pelean contra los chicos por el sistema de votación. La AFA le solicita ayuda al Estado para implementar un sistema de apuestas o para que se haga cargo de los derechos de TV. Se recurre al gobierno para que haga un préstamo "por única vez" con la promesa de que "será la última". También las peleas entre los presidentes de Boca e Independiente, como las de Angelici con Moyano, ya tuvieron lugar en 1965. Y que no se pueda conformar una Selección a días de iniciarse los Juegos Olímpicos ya aconteció en 1924 con los de París, cuando la Argentina no concurrió. El lector tiene en sus manos no solo un libro sobre la historia de la entidad mayor del fútbol argentino, sino también un documento acerca de los modos en que se construye un espacio de poder y sus consecuencias deportivas. Una obra indispensable para entender este momento.
About the Author: Sergio Levinsky es sociólogo desde 1989 y periodista desde 1983. Ha trabajado en Diario Popular, La Voz, Clarín, Sur, Ámbito Financiero y El Cronista y en las revistas Hum(R), Los Periodistas, El Porteño, El Gráfico y Goles; y en la agencia Diarios y Noticias (DyN). Ha sido el director de la revista deportiva semanal Orsai (1989) y de la colección "Los Mundiales" (la historia de los mundiales de fútbol) (1994). En México ha dirigido las revistas "Fútbol Total" y "Deporte Total" (2001) y en España, trabajó en los diarios "El País" y "El Mundo" y en la revista "Don Balón". Es autor de los libros "El negocio del Fútbol" (1995), "Maradona, rebelde con causa" (1996) y "El deporte de informar" (2002). Ha cubierto los Juegos Olímpicos de Seúl (1988) y todos los Mundiales desde México (1986) hasta Brasil (2014) y 10 de las 12 Copas América y 5 Mundiales de Clubes en Japón. Participó de las películas "El Mundial olvidado" y "Fútbol S.A." y fue editor del libro "Messi", de Guillem Balagué en América. Actualmente es columnista del Diario Jornada (Mendoza) y de Yahoo (Japón), y colabora con Diario Perfil y medios de Alemania, Dinamarca, Holanda, Suecia, Inglaterra y Japón. Conduce el programa radial "RH Fútbol" por Palermo Sports.
