You will laugh and you will feel the pain...
In The Adventures of the Funny Bone, you will take a journey through real life events--including the pain, loss, sorrow, laughter, embarrassment, and humor that we all know comes with living. In my book, I describe in detail several occasions that have stood out in my pursuit of purpose. With each story that I have retold, there was a lesson that I learned. As you read through these pages, my hopes are that you will feel the emotion of each story and also understand the lesson that life is trying to teach you and me. "Professor Life" has many, if not daily, lessons for each of us. Unfortunately many times--like students in a classroom--we are daydreaming and miss the point. It is my conscious desire that each reader will awaken to the Professor and receive a passing grade of "lesson learned."
The funny bone is a feeling. If you have ever felt your funny bone, you know that it is funnier to those people watching you experience the feeling than it is to you. We are guided by feelings and emotions and sometimes they can get the best of us and even deceive us. As a Christian, we are to be led by the Spirit. In this book, I use occasions where I know I was being led by the Spirit and other occasions where I was unaware I was being led by the Spirit, but I was being led nevertheless. Sometimes we experience tests in life to see how we will handle certain situations. I have learned that it is better to be aware and alert to life's lessons. If you fail to learn, you will have to take the test again.
The intent of this book is for the reader to take a moment and reflect on the times in his or her life and those special occasions that stand out, whether they are humorous, depressing, or simply confusing. I hope you can find the real meaning of the experience, and use that old adage, "At the end of the day, lesson learned." Through it all, I hope you find the humor and the humility, feel the pain, heal and laugh, and move on. There are many adventures out there, so live them.
