About the Author: James Emory Thompson, the street urchin of this book, is a 1969 graduate of Allegheny College, Meadville, Pa., with a bachelor of arts degree in English Literature. He served from 1961 to 1964 in the U.S. Army Security Ageny, with duty in Turkey and Germany. He began his career in journalism on the reporting staff of his hometown newspaper, The Meadville Tribune, in 1965; then joined the Erie Sunday Times-News and Erie Daily Times for a career that covered more than 30 years. As a community journalist, he became well acquainted with all of northwestern Pennsylvania, its people, its government and its history. He has traveled extensively since his retirement in 2001. "Adventures of a mid-America street urchin" is his first book. It is a true account of his childhood and the community in which he grew up. Mr. Thompson resides in Erie, Pa., with his long-tme companion, Alice Moomy. He has two daughters and four grandchildren.
