Lesson 1
This lesson discusses the structure of the English Phonetic Sound system in a tree form, which is broken down into categories and sub-categories differentiating the long sounds from the short sounds, and their respective numbers.
Lessons 2 and 3
Attention is given to vowel sounds with respect to monophthongs and their word examples. The Practice Session in each lesson should be attempted by learners to gain mastery.
Lesson 4
Diverse sound contrasts are examined to help learners gain a better understanding of the application of vowel sounds in words, with regards to the correct pronunciation of the respective sounds in words that have similar and erroneous pronunciations.
Lesson 5
This lesson is targeted at helping learners know the right pronunciation of the days of the week, the numbers 1 to 50, and the months of the year. A Practice Session is included to help learners master the transcription of the days of the week, numbers and months of the year as applicable.
Lesson 6
This lesson familiarises learners with the correct pronunciation of each letter of the alphabet, which will be used in words.A Practice Session is included to help learners master them, and more examples of the monophthongs are given.
Lessons 7 and 8
Learners will see various word contrasts of diphthong sounds against basic vowel sounds. An assignment is also included to further help in mastering each sound.
Lesson 9
The 24 consonant sounds are introduced with word examples. Also included in this lesson are some word contrasts of some consonant sounds.
Lesson 10
In this final lesson, learners will be taught the special consonant sounds which are different from the regular sounds. This lesson also looks at every letter of the alphabet with respect to the various sounds each one makes in words, which is known as Sound Variant.
