About the Book

Lately, twelve-year-old Adrian Dos Pasos has been unable to take part in the daily sharing of dreams with the rest of his family at breakfast, which has been part of their morning for as long as the pre-teen could remember. Day after day, hard as he may try, he simply cannot remember having dreamt at all. His participation in dream sharing with his family is reduced to only listening, as his parents and kid brother tell their stories. Adrian grows increasingly concerned about his dilemma to the point that he can think of nothing else, and this worries his parents and brother. The Dos Pasos family tries cheering him up in many ways, but nothing seems to help. Then, suddenly one night he is visited by a whimsical girl named Aurora who takes him on an adventure-filled quest to the REM Zone, which is filled with worlds of watchful Dream Guardians, pirating Dream Bandits, skilled Dream Harvesters and apathetic Dream Merchants. There, they search for his lost dreams. In the end, Adrian learns some of the many ways in which dreams may be valued differently by different people, and that there is more to dream sharing than he could ever have imagined.
About the Author: Io Vee, is an Afro-Cubana, who was brought to the States as a child in the late 50's by her father, a composer and mother, an avid reader - both of whom she credits for her fascination with reading and writing poetry, song lyrics, historical mysteries and fantasy novels. For the majority of her adult life, Io has found outlets for the writing bug in producing training material, policy manuals, presentations, brochures and newsletters which she has written or edited in the course of her professional career for companies in the Managed Health Care and Hospitality industries. However, 'Adrian and The Dream Bandits', the first in a planned trilogy of adventures, was a labor of love inspired by her late mother. "I have always worried that there aren't enough 'heroes' to whom my children could directly relate. I felt it my duty to reinforce hope and confidence in my children by letting them know that any of them could be a hero, and as it turned out, they've all grown up to be just that, to me." Io's writing is fresh and she commands a unique flair for rendering a story that can be enjoyed from more than one perspective - thusly, what may be deemed as one boy's adventure may also very well be an allegory of the human race.
