About the Book

An Act of Sabotage? this is an extraordinary work spanning both World Wars and follows the steady decline of an innocent young boy into becoming a ruthless cold blooded killer, climaxing in the Fauld Explosion that occurred at a secret underground arms store near Tutbury Staffordshire. This was one of the largest non-nuclear man made explosions the world has ever seen.At the outbreak of World War One Carl Smith was living in Germany with his father Robert and his mother and brother. Robert was a diplomat at the British Embassy and he along with all of the other members of staff had to leave the country. Roberts relationship with his wife had broken down so they decided that it would be a good time to separate. Carl decided to go to England with his father where as his mother and brother remained in Germany. Robert had also decided to leave the Civil Service and had taken a position as private secretary to Sir Oswald Mosley and they would be living on Sir Oswald's Estate at Rolleston Hall in Staffordshire. Whilst he was there Carl met young Oswald, Sir Oswald's grandson, later to become the infamous leader of the British Union of Fascists. Carl quickly found that life in a village was not easy for when the boys in the village learned that he was half German they began to bully him and he was forced into a fight with tragic consequences. He also became trapped by a scheming, crafty very possessive girl and had to resort to drastic action to break her hold on him. He later met Eleanor Trewarren and they fell deeply in love and planned to marry when he finished at university but things did not work out as they hoped. After the war ended he left university and joined the civil service and was posted to Germany as an interpreter. He enjoyed the embassy social life and became very popular with the ladies which caused a scandal. He was recalled to England to face a charge of bringing the service into disrepute and was dismissed. He met his old friend Oswald and joined the British Union of Fascists but when The Second World War broke out was imprisoned with all of the other members of the organisation. They were all later released after signing a pledge not to interfere with the war effort. Carl refused and was to remain in prison for the duration of the war however in 1944 he managed to escape. The Allies were winning the war and he was determined to help his beloved Fuhrer in any way he could. He decided that the most effective way to disrupt the war would be to kill Churchill and so embarked on the mission with ruthless determination and would stop at nothing to achieve his aim. The assassination attempt was foiled but he avoided capture and went on to cause to cause one of the biggest most devastating and catastrophic home events of the entire war ..................or did he?The story involves an attempt to assassinate Winston Churchill: three murders two jail breaks two car chases a rape and a spectacular car crash. There is also a romantic love element.
