About the Author: My name is Keaton Leonard Grant. I was born in Winter Haven, Florida to James and Celia Grant. I am the younger of 2 sons; my older brother's name is James. I was raised in Kissimmee, FL, where I graduated from Gateway High School in 2005. After high school I decided to attend prep school at Bridgton Academy in Maine. I attended Bridgton academy for one year as a postgraduate. After finishing my first year at Bridgton, I then decided to attend Purdue University. I graduated in 2010 with a Bachelors of Science. During my career at Purdue I played four years on the men's basketball team, later becoming the player with the most wins in the university's history. Aside from basketball I am pursuing a career in the entrepreneurial field, hoping one day to start a variety of businesses. I also plan to start a foundation to help underprivileged youths perform to the best of their abilities. As a young boy I immediately became interested in sports, playing football and baseball as well basketball. I decided to stop playing baseball at an early age because I felt that it was not exciting enough for me. I later stopped playing football as well. My brother played and had torn his ACL in high school playing football and from this experience I decided that I if I did take the risk of getting hurt, it would be for the sport that I loved- basketball. I became interested in basketball in the eighth grade. Discouragement from administrators at my middle school just spurred me to play to my full potential, even though they often said that I would not do well enough to play varsity basketball as a freshman. Some even said that my dreams of playing college basketball were near impossible. I remember the sarcastic laughing. At this point I had made up in my mind that I would never quit nor let anyone limit my possibilities. Out of high school I originally committed to attend the University of Missouri. Quinn Snyder was the head coach at that time. I later learned that I missed the school's qualifying ACT score by one point. I then decided to go to prep school. I later reopened my recruitment for other schools. My basketball career at Purdue was eventful. I was named team MVP my sophomore year. As a team we made it to the NCAA tournament four straight years and two sweet sixteen appearances. More accomplishments as a team were: one big ten regular season championship, and one tournament Big Ten championships.
