About the Book

‘The Abundance of Nothing’, tells the incredible story of a young man’s sexual awakening set in a duet of laughter and tears. The novel begins when as a lad he comes to the teeming metropolis of Bombay in search of a better life. He and his father begin their search for a new beginning as rag pickers, sleeping on the pavements of the city. Slowly, the cherub of a boy learns to fend for himself, along with a posse of similar destitute buddies, who live by their wits, their irrepressible humour and their colourful escapades to change their destiny. A chance meeting brings him in touch with an Anglo-Indian lady, who takes the urchin under her wing, teaches him English, and gives him hope to better his situation. He journeys through life, never achieving total success yet never totally failing. Armed with a formidable capacity not to ignore trouble, he comes to realize that love rules his life, while romance ruins it. The rise and fall of the vagabond kid will capture your heart and tug at your emotions. It’s heartbreaking yet funny, entertaining and uplifting.

About The Author:

Biddu was born in Bangalore, where he started his early career playing in a pop group whose influence lay in the classic repertoire of the Beatles and The Rolling Stones. Following his early success, he decided to head west and make his name on the international scene. His early days in the UK were typical of many, working in a hamburger joint in the day and writing songs at night. Biddu struck lucky when he signed the unknown singer Carl Douglas and produced the nine million-selling “Kung Fu Fighting”. This record went on to become No.1 in every country in the world. This was followed by a series of hits for himself as the Biddu Orchestra with songs like “Summer of ’42” and the Ivor Novello winner “Rain Forest”. He also wrote or produced a string of hits for Tina Charles and soul legend Jimmy James, with “I love to love”, “Dance little lady dance”, “I’ll go where the music takes me” and “Now is the time”, to name but a few. Biddu also wrote the music for two very successful films starring Joan Collins in “The Stud” and “The Bitch”, both becoming platinum-selling albums. At this time, he also wrote the music for a Bollywood film and his music with the song “Aap jaisa koi” sung by Nazia Hassan, set a new landmark for sales in India. He followed this with a pop album, “Disco Deewane”, featuring the singer Nazia Hassan (one of Asia’s top singers). This album went on to become the best-selling pop album in Indian music history. Biddu has had numerous other hits in varying territories like Japan, Canada, America and Europe. In 1995, he wrote and produced the three million-selling album “Made in India”, featuring the singer Alisha. To date, in his career, Biddu has sold 38 million records. He also produced tracks on the debut album of Abhijeet Sawant — the first “Indian Idol” winner — which was a massive hit. His autobiography Made in India was recently published in India. He has also written another novel, Curse of the Godman. He recently received a ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ from Rolling Stone magazine.

A Thrilling But Totally Believable Murder Mystery

Read this in one evening. I had planned to do other things with my day, but it was impossible to put down. Every time I tried, I was drawn back to it in less than 5 minutes. I sobbed my eyes out the entire last 100 pages. Highly recommend!
