About the Book

Provides significant guidance to those wishing to attain work as a flight attendant for a major airline or a regional carrier. It conveys the basic knowledge to getting through the open house with success, on "acing" the interview and going on to pass each of the required segments with understanding versus simply memorizing data for short term retention. Further, it supplies expansive detail into the actual work involved as well as passing the tests during the often grueling training phase. An overview of the operation of emergency equipment and procedures provides a positive level of understanding how important this position really is!
About the Author: Joy, born and raised in Minnesota, started out life in the farming area of Villard. At a tender age of three her family sold the farm and moved to Duluth where promise of a great job in the steel industry beckoned her father; it was also the childhood home of her mother. The family found a home out in the sleepy township thirteen miles outside Duluth called Lakewood where she stayed throughout her school years. Joy moved to the Twin Cities to help her older sister out. After a short time, she decided to join the Army. She was off on an adventure of a lifetime. Although she enjoyed the Army, she got married in California to a long-time boyfriend from her childhood. She was soon to become a mother and regrettably had to choose to leave the service. Moving back up to Duluth to be closer to her family while raising her daughter as a single parent, she decided to attend the University of Minnesota - Duluth campus and graduated with a BBA in Business administration. She accepted a position as a Tax Examiner with the Minnesota Department of Revenue in St. Paul. Although she had never intended to work in the accounting field, she was offered opportunities to teach and participate in teams that were integral in the production of transitioning from manual audits to computer-assisted audit forms. After twelve years, after attaining the title of Senior Auditor she decided to leave for new adventures. She pursued a variety of industries and worked independently for some time. Over the years she focused on the hospitality and airline industries. As a General Manager for several limited service hotels she excelled and loved. Education had always been in her heart and she also loved to travel. She decided to go to work with a large body aircraft carrier that traveled outside the United States. After paying her dues as a flight attendant she had hoped to go on into training. When the training opportunity moved from Minneapolis. A small regional carrier provided a unique opportunity to work as the only flight attendant on a flight. Both the smaller aircraft and the large aircraft offer unique opportunities to learn. After working for a small carrier for about six months, she was laid off (this company was owned by a major airline that was intent on reorganizing its entire operation. Not long after she was laid off she was felled with a life-threatening illness and fights it to this day. She writes.
