My science teacher once said that, if you go north for a long enough time, you'll start going south. However, if you go east, even if you get into an airplane and fly to the furthest east you can go, you'll never start going west. The same is true for flying west. So, north and south have a short distance between them, but east and west... They have an infinite distance between them- one that cannot be crossed.
Funny as it is, this was one of the most impactful statements that he made- at least, for me. And, even more funny, science, a class that had once been one of the most boring classes for me, had saved my life just a year earlier.
Of course, it was not science that had saved my life, but rather books about science that God used to bring me to the Truth. However, this subject that brought me to God often brings others away from Him, causing them to doubt everything they know to be true about God- and to doubt God Himself. And all of the books that speak about the compatibility of God and science, called Apologetics books, are almost always either shallow in depth or else extremely complicated, and even insurmountably complex to anyone except a PhD'd science professor. Which is exactly why I wrote Abolishment of Atheism.
