Por lo que existe una enorme confrontación por parte de éste hacia Abel, llegando al límite de su amistad, Joaquín resalta mucho el hecho de no tener una vida como la que tiene Abel, ya que siempre le sale todo lo contrario.En esta obra lo que quiere decir el autor es que el destino está escrito en cada uno de nosotros y aunque se quiera cambiar ello, siempre va a salir todo tal cual el destino quiere, llegando muchas veces a fallarnos a nosotros mismos, simplemente tenemos que acostumbrarnos a ello y verlo desde distintos puntos de vista, cosa que no sucede con Joaquín que está lleno de envidia y lo recrimina diariamente.Abel Sanchez es una gran historia que da relación a dos mejores amigos que se conocen desde que tienen uso de razón, al menos eso querían creer. Esta famosa novela curiosamente su protagonista no es Abel Sanchez si no su amigo llamado Joaquín Monegro quien solo vivía bajo las sombras de Abel, poco a poco irán ocurriendo una serie de desenlaces que irán tomando bastante importancia.Pasa que en el colegio Abel Sanchez era una persona carismática, no era excelente en sus estudios pero gracias a su forma de ser se ganó el cariño de todos razón por la cual le tienen mucho aprecio, bien ganado a su fama de ser una persona llena de alegría convirtiéndose en el muchacho más querido y popular de todos y que naturalmente le salía su buen ser.Por otro lado se encuentra Joaquín Monegro, quien es una persona bastante seria y con un carácter bastante fuerte, solo es reconocido en el colegio gracias a sus excelentes calificaciones que lo hacen uno de los estudiantes con el mejor promedio, tenía un problema y este era que no tenía más amigos y para nada era popular. Esto lo llevo a querer ser como Abel Sanchez pero las cosas no salieron como planeaba.Joaquín a pesar de ser gran amigo de Abel Sanchez siempre se sintió opacado por este y en todo su cuerpo nacía una tremenda envidia por el motivo de el gran carisma de Abel. Terminada la universidad con cada uno teniendo una vocación totalmente diferente, Joaquín se graduó de médico mientras que Abel Sanchez recibió como pintor dedicándose ambos con gran empeño.
