About the Book

A stunningly thought-provoking NOVEL FOR READERS who enjoy literary fiction, imaginative unpredictability, bizarre mystery and cool, logical philosophical reasoning.,
An old lady and a young man meet on a crosswalk in Manhattan in bizarre circumstances which drastically change the directions of their lives. A foul-mouthed youth is killed in a traffic accident. The old lady's apartment is visited by folks that would make most people run to their psychologist. A mass murderer explains why he thinks he is a good man. A cool Jesus asks for parts of The Bible to be rewritten. Literary characters come alive and attempt something, which would make their authors, if they knew about it, scream in horror or roll over in their graves. It takes a while for the police to get involved, but when it finally happens, the outcome is one that nobody could have predicted. This novel invites you to let go of reality and float along in a world in which realism, fiction and philosophy merge into unpredictability, wisdom and fun.
About the Author: Fred Schäfer was born in the south of Germany and left home at the age of nineteen. A few years later he discovered the world of literature. Two of his books, The Short and Wonderful Life of Henry Hemingway and Travelling with Maria, provide insight into the early years of his life. The Mysterious Man completes the picture, although not entirely, because The Mysterious Man is a novel, not an autobiography. Or is it both? A book in which reality and fiction merge? At the age of thirty six, the author and his family moved to Australia, where they reside today. He has worked as an engineer and IT manager, then became a professional speaker making a name for himself presenting business and personal development seminars. During those years, he wrote two nonfiction books: The Solution Within Yourself and Success, Money and You. A few years later he published the essence of his seminars in his third nonfiction book, How to Make Great Things Happen in YOUR LIFE. Fred Schäfer's heart belongs to the world of literature, which to him means fiction. He has written eight novels, three in German and five in English, and one novella. A short description of his writings can be found at the end of this book. His English novels are: An Almighty Conspiracy, The Invention of the Big Bang, The 92-Year-Old Lady Who Made Me Steal a Dead Man's Car, The Mysterious Man, Don't Mention the FBI, and Invitation to a Former Girlfriend's Wedding (a novella). The 92-Year-Old Lady Who Made Me Steal a Dead Man's Car, clearly, is Fred Schäfer's most imaginative literary fiction novel. The author demonstrates his creative power to an almost unimaginable degree. Literary characters from the books of his heroes come alive and attempt something, which would make their authors, if they knew about it, scream in horror or roll over in their graves.
