Vor knapp über 10 Jahren präsentierte uns Alexander Osterwalder mit seinem Buch Business Model Generation eine großartige Möglichkeit Geschäftsmodelle darzustellen.

Doch manche Unternehmer sind nach der Anwendung des Business-Model-Canvas (BMC) ratlos. Sie haben Ihr Geschäftsmodell mit dem BMC dargestellt und wissen nun nicht, was sie damit tun sollen, was sie davon haben?

Andere Unternehmer fühlen sich bestätigt und sind zufrieden: Ja, so sieht ihr Geschäftsmodell aus, sie haben alle Bausteine sorgfältig und vollständig erklärt, alle Felder brav ausgefüllt.

Diesen beiden Gruppen ist gemein, dass sie nichts weiter mit dem BMC machen. Die einen kennen sich nicht aus und die anderen sind zufrieden mit ihrer Arbeit und mit dem was vorliegt.

Was mache ich mit einem ausgefüllten BMC, was ist der zentrale Nutzen? Das bespreche ich in dieser BMC-Monografie detailierter.

Ich könnte überlegen, wie ich mein Geschäftsmodell modifiziere. Dann kann ich sehen, ob ich durch die Veränderung etwas verbessere und ob dadurch neue Geschäftsfelder, Zielgruppen, Produkte entwickelt und angeboten werden können.

Hinter allen Bausteinen steht eigentlich potentiell eine Enzyklopädie. Diese Informationen kann ich nutzen, um so wie es ist zu operieren, aber auch um zu verbessern und vor allem auch um zu innovieren.

Das BMC dient nicht primär zur Dokumentation des Geschäftsmodells, sondern es ist vergleichbar einem Spielfeld auf dem ich neue Spielzüge ausprobieren kann, bevor ich mein Business umbaue. Ich kann im Vorfeld, am grünen Tisch, überprüfen, ob es funktionieren könnte, wie es funktionieren könnte und was ich verändern müsste. Ich kann kalkulieren und ich weiß, welche Fragen ich (z.B. zukünftigen Kunden) stellen muss, um meine Erfolgschancen abschätzen zu können.

Diese Monografie ist der Versuch, diese geniale Methode viel mehr Menschen zugängig zu machen. Es ist der Beginn einer umfassenden Mission: durch den Gebrauch dieses Dashboards soll den Unternehmern neue Chancen sichtbar werden.
